# Prayer for D-Day and the Act of Consecration to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
*2015-06-05*

> Bill Young discusses the practice of the First Saturday devotions and leads a prayer of consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, while remembering the veterans of D-Day.

## The First Saturday Devotions

Today is June 6th, the first Saturday of the month. For those who wish to participate in the First Saturday devotions, the practice involves five consecutive months of specific acts of reparation to Our Lady. First, receive the Sacrament of Confession with the intention of making reparation to Our Lady. Second, receive Holy Communion in a state of grace. Third, recite the Holy Rosary, at least the third part, with the same intention. Finally, meditate for fifteen minutes on the mysteries of the Rosary with the intention of making reparation for offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

## Practical Application and Purpose

These devotions are relatively easy to fulfill. Most churches have evening Mass on Saturdays with confessions available beforehand. For example, at my local church, St. David's, they have confessions and Mass scheduled in a way that allows you to complete the Rosary and the Eucharist in one visit. We do this for two primary reasons: first, for world peace, and second, for the redemption of our own souls at the time of our death.

## Act of Consecration to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, most amiable heart of our Redeemer, heart of a Father, a brother, and a friend of our souls. How indebted we are to you for the love of us, from your adorable heart which has provided many benefits and favors, and from which we obtain the most wonderful graces for the sanctification of our souls. Sweetest Heart of Jesus, you have been consumed by love for us; you have given yourself totally for our salvation. Today we want to consecrate ourselves to your divine heart. We are entirely yours by grace and nature, and we want to be yours in time and in eternity. We give ourselves totally to you: our being, our bodies, our souls, and our hearts. Sweetest Heart of Jesus, we give to you our memory to remember forever the sweetness of your love, our mind to learn above all the beauties of your divine heart, our will to love above all your amiable heart, and our freedom to live only in obedience to your holy will. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, the light of the eternal Father and comfort of all afflicted hearts, accept and appreciate the humble offer of our hearts. Take us forever into the Most Sacred Heart, so that remaining united to you on earth, we may come together with you in heaven. Amen.

## Remembering D-Day

Today also marks the anniversary of D-Day in 1944. I want to thank all our veterans who participated in D-Day and all our veterans today. May God help us achieve peace around the world. We pray for the souls of those who were lost during the fighting of World War II and all wars that followed, praying that their souls may go to heaven. Amen.

*Through the First Saturday devotions and consecration to the Sacred Heart, we seek both personal redemption and global peace while honoring those who sacrificed their lives in war.*
