## Feast of Saints Marcellinus and Peter

Today, June 2nd, we celebrate the martyrdom of Saints Marcellinus and Peter. Marcellinus was a priest and Peter an exorcist; both were faithful Christians who gave their lives for Christ around 304 A.D. Their names are even mentioned in the Roman Canon of the Mass, a testament to their lasting witness.

## The Prayer to the Sacred Heart

We now turn to the prayer titled “O adorable heart of Jesus.”

“O adorable Heart of Jesus, I come to you because you are my refuge and my sure hope. You are the remedy for all my ills, the healer of all my miseries, and the recompense for all my faults. You are the substitute for everything that is lacking in me, the certainty for all my requests, the infallible and ever‑flowing spring of light, strength, peace, and blessings for me. I trust that you will never tire of me, nor cease to love, help, or protect me, for you love me with an infinite love. Therefore, have mercy on me. Lord, in your great compassion, do with me, in me, for me all that you will, as I abandon myself to you with the utmost trust that you will never abandon me. Amen.”

## Reflection

The prayer reminds us that the Sacred Heart is the source of every grace we need. By placing our whole selves in Christ’s infinite love, we find the courage to face any trial, just as the early martyrs trusted fully in God’s mercy.

*When we entrust ourselves to the adorable Heart of Jesus, we receive the assurance that He will never abandon us.*
