# Consecration of Humanity to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

> Bill Young reflects on the feast of St. Justin and leads a prayer consecrating all humanity to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

## Feast of St. Justin

Good afternoon, this is Bill Young and welcome to Prayer and Lunch. Today is June 1st, the feast day of St. Justin. He was a first‑century scholar who was born into a pagan family that worshiped the gods of antiquity. After studying various philosophies, especially Plato, he found that only Christianity answered the deepest questions. He proclaimed Jesus Christ, the Son of the Lord, as true God in Rome. When the authorities demanded that he deny the Roman gods, he refused and was beheaded in 165 AD.

## Consecration to the Most Sacred Heart

Let us now consecrate ourselves to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus:

Sacred Heart of Jesus, Redeemer of humanity, look upon us, humbly prostrated before your altar. We belong to you and desire to live close to you, that each of us may willingly consecrate ourselves to your most holy heart.

Many have never known you, many have despised your commandments, and some have turned away. Jesus, have mercy on us and draw us nearer to your Sacred Heart. Lord, be king of the faithful who have never left you, and also of those who have strayed, that they may return to the Father's house soon.

Be king of those living in error and conflict, separated from you; call them back to the refuge of truth and the unity of belief, that we may become one flock under one shepherd. Grant safety to our Lord, liberty to the Church, and peace to all peoples. From one end of the world to the other, let one voice resound, praising the Divine Heart from which our salvation flows.

*May all humanity be drawn into the love and unity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.*
