# August Queen of Angels

> Bill Young explores a specific prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary revealed in 1863, focusing on her role as the Queen of Angels in the spiritual battle against demons.

## The Origin of the Prayer

Today we continue our series of prayers to Mary, Mother of God. This particular prayer, titled 'August Queen of Angels,' dates back to January 13, 1863. It originated with a soul who was accustomed to receiving graces from the Virgin Mary and was suddenly struck by a ray of divine light. In this vision, the soul saw demons throwing themselves upon the earth, causing ruin and incredible miseries.

## The Necessity of Prayer

During this vision, the Holy Virgin appeared and confirmed that demons had indeed broken loose in the world. She explained that the time had come to evoke her as the Queen of Angels and to ask her to send the legions of angels to combat and annihilate the power of hell. When the soul asked if the Virgin could not simply send the angels without being asked, the Virgin replied that prayer is a condition established by God Himself to obtain graces.

## The Prayer to the Queen of Angels

The Most Holy Virgin then provided the following prayer: 'O August Queen of Heaven and Our Lady of Angels, who received from God the power and mission of crushing the head of Satan, we humbly beg you to send us the heavenly legions with St. Michael the Archangel as head, so that under your orders they may seize the demons and combat them everywhere, repress their boldness and drive them back into the abyss. Who is like God? O good and tender mother, you shall always be our love and our hope. O divine mother, send your holy angels to defend us and drive away from us the cruel enemy. Holy angels and archangels, defend us and guide us.'

## Closing Devotions

We conclude this reflection by turning to the Hail Mary: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

*Prayer is a necessary condition established by God for us to obtain the graces and spiritual protection needed to combat the powers of hell.*
