# The ninth privilege: Mary rejoices at the resurrection and ascension of Jesus
*2015-05-03*

> Bill Young explores the ninth privilege of the devotion of the 12 stars, focusing on the joy of the Blessed Mother at the exaltation of her Son.

## Opening Prayer and Creed

We begin today by continuing our journey through the devotion of the 12 stars. We focus now on the ninth privilege: Mary rejoices at the resurrection and ascension of Jesus. May the most Holy Trinity be blessed, praised, and thanked for the graces granted to the Virgin Mary.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. O God, come to my aid; O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## The Ninth Privilege

The ninth privilege reminds us that Mary rejoices at the resurrection and ascension of Jesus. As it is written in Luke 1:46-47, "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior."

In the imagery of this devotion, the golden censer of the angels symbolizes several events. The candle represents the resurrection, and the monogram of Christ on the cloud represents His ascension.

## Meditation on Mary's Joy

At the moment of His resurrection, Jesus poured forth His joy upon Mary in abundance. For a mother like her, it brought immense joy to see with her own eyes the exaltation of her Son, whom she adored, and the happiness and treasures of the kingdom of which He was coming into possession.

## Closing Invocation

Mother of Jesus, Immolated Lamb, you are now rejoicing with Him in glory. Grant that I may adore the splendor of His holiness in the gift of the Eucharist.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

May the most Holy Trinity be blessed, praised, and thanked for the graces granted to the Virgin Mary.

*Through the example of Mary, we are invited to rejoice in the victory of Christ's resurrection and adore His holiness in the Eucharist.*
