# Day Two – Novena to Our Lady of Pompeii
*2015-05-01*

> Bill Young leads the second day of the novena to the Blessed Virgin Mary of Pompeii, offering prayers, the Apostles’ Creed, and a heartfelt petition for Mary’s intercession.

## Opening Prayer to St. Catherine of Siena

Good morning, this is Bill Young. Before we begin the novena, we ask St. Catherine of Siena to join us: “O St. Catherine of Siena, my protector and teacher, assist me and unite yourself with me in this devotion to the Queen of the Rosary, who placed the throne of her graces in the valley of Pompeii. Through your intercession, grant that I may obtain the graces I desire. Amen.”

## Trinitarian Invocation and the Apostles’ Creed

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

**Apostles’ Creed**
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Petition to Our Lady of Pompeii

At the foot of your throne, glorious Lady, my soul venerates you amid sorrows and cares. In these troubles, worries, sadness, and agitation, I raise my eyes with confidence to you, who dwell among the poor and abandoned. As Queen of Victories, raise your powerful voice to call your devoted children from Italy and the whole world to build a temple for you. Have mercy on them. You, the help of Christians, free me from the trials that beset me. You, our life and triumph over death, protect my soul in these dangers. Grant me peace, tranquility, love, and health.

## Hail Holy Queen

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, our hope! To you we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To you we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, O most gracious Advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us. Show us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O Sweet, Loving Virgin Mary, pray for us, Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

## Closing Blessing

May God bless you all.

*May we entrust our sorrows to Mary, trusting in her loving intercession.*
