# The Third Privilege – The Perfect Conformity of Mary to God’s Will
*2015-04-25*

> Bill Young reflects on the third privilege of the 12‑Star devotion, focusing on Mary’s perfect conformity to God’s will as expressed in her fiat, Luke 1:38.

## Opening Prayer and Creed

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young{,} welcome to Prayer and Lunch. Let us begin in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord, come to my aid; make haste to help me. May the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be praised now and forever. Amen.

We recite the Apostles’ Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, the only Son, our Lord, conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## The Third Privilege: Perfect Conformity

The third privilege is the perfect conformity of Mary to God’s will. In Luke 1:38 Mary says, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Her “yes” unites heaven and earth, showing a will wholly aligned with God’s plan.

## Scriptural Reflection

We recall Genesis 28:12, Jacob’s dream of a ladder reaching from earth to heaven. This image reminds us of Mary’s role as a bridge between humanity and the divine, her soul a “paradise delight” for her Son and for the Holy Trinity. Through her fiat, she entered the “clear regions of faith,” seeing God’s will and worshipping it fully.

## Invocation

Mother of Faith, may I always be prompt and joyful in my daily “yes” to the holy will of the Father.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

## Closing Blessing

May the Most Holy Trinity be praised and thanked for the grace bestowed upon the Virgin Mary. God bless you all, and have a great Sunday.

*Mary’s perfect conformity to God’s will invites us to say “yes” to the Father’s plan in our own lives.*
