## The Hour of Mercy

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young, and welcome to the 202nd episode of Catholic Podcast Ministries' Prayer and Lunch. Today's prayer is called the Prayer at the Hour of Mercy. This prayer was given to St. Faustina and should be prayed, if you can, at the third hour of the day, which is 3:00 p.m.

## A Prayer for Conversion

Before we begin the prayer, there is a caption that states: 'O blood and water that gushed forth from the heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in you.' Jesus said to St. Faustina that when this prayer is said with a contrite heart and with faith on behalf of sinners, He will give them the grace of conversion. I know we all have family members or friends who need this conversion; for me, it is my son. Please, Lord, hear this prayer.

## The Sacrifice of Love

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. God, you could have saved thousands of worlds with one word. A single sigh from Jesus would have satisfied your justice. But you yourself, Jesus, purely out of love for us, underwent a terrible passion. Your Father's justice would have been satisfied with a single sigh from you; therefore, all your sufferings are solely the work of your mercy and your inconceivable love.

## The Fountain of Mercy

Leaving the earth, O Lord, you wanted to stay with us, and so you left us yourself in the Sacrament of the Altar. You opened wide your mercy towards us. There is no misery that is hidden from you. You have called us all to the fountain of love, to the spring of God's compassion. Here is the tabernacle of your mercy, the remedy for all our ills. To you, O living spring of mercy, all souls are drawn: some longing for your love, others to wash the wounds of their sins, and still others, exhausted by life, to draw strength.

## Interceding for Sinners

At the moment of your death on the cross, you bestowed upon us eternal life by allowing your most holy side to be opened. You opened an inexhaustible spring of mercy for us, giving us your dearest possessions: the blood and water from your heart. From this abundance, all graces flow to us. O Jesus, eternal truth and our life, I call upon you and beg your mercy for poor sinners. O sweetness of the heart of my Lord, full of pity and unfathomable mercy, I plead with you for poor sinners. O most Sacred Heart, fount of mercy from which gush forth rays of inconceivable grace upon the entire human race, I beg you to look with favor upon poor sinners.

## Trusting in God's Will

O Jesus, be mindful of your own bitter passion and do not permit the loss of souls redeemed at the dear price of your most precious blood. When I consider the great price of your blood, I rejoice immensely, for one drop alone would have been enough for the salvation of all sinners. Although sin is an abyss of wickedness and ingratitude, the price paid for us can never be equaled. Therefore, let every soul trust in the passion of the Lord and peace in His hope and His mercy. God will not deny His mercy to anyone. Heaven and earth may change, but God's mercy will never be exhausted.

O Jesus, I desire to bring all sinners to your feet that they may glorify your mercy through endless ages. O Jesus, stretched out upon the cross, I implore you: give me the grace of faithfully doing the most holy will of your Father in all things, always, and everywhere. When this will of God seems harsh and difficult to fulfill, I beg you, Jesus, that power and strength flow upon me from your wounds. May my lips keep repeating: 'Your will be done.' O Lord, Savior of the world, who in such terrible torments and pain forgot yourself to think only of the salvation of souls, grant me the grace to forget myself, that I may live totally for souls, helping you in the work of salvation.

*Trust in the infinite mercy of Jesus and pray for the conversion of souls, especially during the Hour of Mercy.*
