# Holy Thursday Prayer of Adoration
*2015-04-01*

> Bill Young leads a Holy Thursday prayer of adoration of the crucified Christ, reflecting on the wounds of Jesus and offering the Our Father and Hail Mary for the Church and the faithful.

## Opening Prayer

Dear Lord, as I make my Lenten journey with you, send me your Spirit. Help me to turn away from sin, to fast and pray, that I may know you better. Renew me so I can share your grace with the world. Amen.

## Adoration of the Crucified Christ

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, without end. Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again; He ascended into heaven; He is seated at the right hand of the Father; He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Prayer to the Wound of the Right Hand

Most beloved Lord Jesus, crucified, prostrate before you in union with the most holy Mary and all the angels and saints, I adore the most holy wound of your right hand. I thank you for your infinite love, which bore such cruel pains to atone for my sins. Grant the Church victory over her enemies and guide all her children to walk the holy path of your commandments.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, my love, pray for sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

## Prayer to the Wound of the Left Hand

Most beloved Lord Jesus, crucified, prostrate before you in union with the most holy Mary and all the angels and saints, I adore the most holy wound of your left hand. I implore your grace for poor sinners and for the dying, especially those who resist reconciliation.

Amen.

## Prayer to the Wound of the Right Foot

Most beloved Lord Jesus, crucified, prostrate before you in union with the most holy Mary and all the angels and saints, I adore the most holy wound of your right foot. I ask that many saints may blossom among the clergy and that all may be drawn ever closer to you.

Amen.

## Prayer to the Wound of the Left Foot

Most beloved Lord Jesus, crucified, prostrate before you in union with the most holy Mary and all the angels and saints, I adore the most holy wound of your left foot. I beg you to free all holy souls from purgatory, especially those who devoted their lives to your holy wounds.

Amen.

## Prayer to the Wound of the Side

Most beloved Lord Jesus, crucified, prostrate before you in union with the most holy Mary and all the angels and saints, I adore the most holy wound of your side. I beg you to bless and hear the prayers of all who ask for your intercession.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, sorrowful Mary. O Virgin most sorrowful, pray for us.

O Jesus crucified, hear these prayers offered through the merits of your Passion. May I live in holiness, devote myself entirely to establishing your kingdom, and receive the sacraments at the moment of death, that I may remain with you forever in the glory of heaven. Amen.

*May the adoration of Christ’s wounds draw us deeper into the mystery of his love and lead us to a holy Lenten journey.*
