# Meditating on the glorious mysteries: the resurrection
*2015-03-10*

> Bill Young begins a five-day series focusing on the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary, starting with a meditation on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

## A Five-Day Journey Through the Glorious Mysteries

I hope you all had a very happy Easter. For the next five days, we are going to do something special by concentrating on the Glorious Mysteries. We will be praying a partial rosary each day. Day one is the Resurrection; day two will be the Ascension; day three is the coming of the Holy Spirit upon Our Lady and the apostles; day four is the Assumption; and day five will be the crowning of Our Lady as Queen of Heaven.

## Prayers for the Theological Virtues

We begin in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. After the Our Father, we offer our Hail Marys for the theological virtues: the first bead for the gift of faith, the second for the gift of hope, and the third for the gift of love, concluding with the Glory Be.

## The First Glorious Mystery: The Resurrection

The first mystery is the Resurrection. For this meditation, we associate the color green and offer our prayers for all our friends on the continent of Africa. We look to the Gospel of Mark 16:1-7, which describes Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome visiting the tomb. They found the stone rolled away and were told by a young man in a white robe, "He has risen. He is not here... go, tell his disciples and Peter, that he is going before you to Galilee."

## The Joy of the Risen Christ

The joy of Easter is not only the knowledge that we too may rise one day, but that we will rejoice in the new presence of the risen Christ, who gives us His Spirit. After praying the decade of the Rosary, we remember the Fatima prayer: "O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Your mercy."

## Intercessions for Africa

I would like to pray specifically for all the living and the suffering on the continent of Africa. May they all one day find the risen Christ, for nothing is impossible if you believe in Him.
