# Pray for miracles day 5: honoring the holy family
*2015-03-04*

> In this episode, Bill Young leads a prayer service featuring a chaplet to the Holy Family and the fifth day of the Novena to the Blessed Virgin Mary of Miracles.

## The chaplet of the holy family

In honor of St. Joseph during the month of March, we begin by praying the chaplet in honor of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. We start with the sign of the cross, the Apostles' Creed, and a series of petitions focused on the virtues of the Holy Family.

We ask that our families may live in a spirit of humility, patience, and acceptance of God's will, reflecting the trials and sacrifices suffered in the stable of Bethlehem. We seek protection for our families in all spiritual and temporal needs, recalling the goodness with which the Holy Family welcomed the shepherds at the manger.

## Walking in holiness and peace

Reflecting on the joy of the visit of the Magi, we pray that our families may always walk in holiness and justice in the presence of God. We also remember the suffering experienced during the flight to Egypt, asking that our families be preserved from all evil and that we may bear the trials of life with calmness and serenity.

Furthermore, we recall the journey back from Egypt to Nazareth and the fear of King Herod (referred to as Archelaus), asking for defense against the assaults of enemies so that we may live in safety and peace under God's protection.

## Sacramental life and obedience

Considering the humility of the Holy Family's journey to Jerusalem for the Passover, we pray that our families may be good examples to others by faithfully attending Holy Mass and receiving the sacraments. Finally, we ask for the grace of submission to the Father's will in all things, praying that we may be obedient to God so that we may one day die in the embrace of the Holy Family.

## Novena to our lady of miracles

We continue with Day 5 of the Novena to the Blessed Virgin Mary of Miracles. We acknowledge Mary's presence in the place she has chosen for pilgrimage and ask for the specific graces we seek with all our hearts. We reflect on how she chose simple and honest people to carry out her will, teaching us that humility is necessary to obtain her favors.

We look to her endless generosity, remembering how she rewarded the faith of those who built her church, and we conclude this portion of the novena with the Hail Holy Queen.

## A prayer for lent

As we continue our Lenten journey together, we offer a final prayer for spiritual renewal. We ask the Lord to send His Spirit to help us give of ourselves, turn away from sin, and commit to fasting and prayer so that we may know Him better and share His grace with the world.

*By imitating the humility, obedience, and faith of the Holy Family and the Blessed Mother, we open our hearts to receive God's miracles and graces.*
