# August Queen of Angels

> Bill Young leads a prayer invoking Mary as the August Queen of Angels, asking her to send heavenly legions to combat the forces of evil.

## Introduction

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young, and welcome to the Prayer and Lunch podcast. Today we pray to Mary for her intercession in these troubling times. The prayer is titled “August Queen of Angels.”

## Background of the Prayer

According to the preface, on 13 January 1863 a soul who regularly received favors from the Virgin Mary was struck by a ray of divine light. She claimed to see demons flooding the earth, causing ruin and massacres. The Holy Virgin appeared and confirmed that demons had indeed broken loose in the world, and that the time had come to invoke Mary as Queen of Angels and ask her to send legions of angels to combat the powers of hell. The soul addressed Mary, saying, “O Mary, you who are so good, could you not send the angels without us having to ask?” Mary replied that prayer is the condition established by God to obtain graces. The soul then asked Mary to teach them how to pray, and the Most Holy Virgin dedicated the following prayer to her.

## The Prayer to the August Queen of Angels

O August Queen of Heaven, our Lady of Angels, who received from God the power and mission of crushing the head of Satan, we humbly beg you to send the heavenly legions, with St. Michael the Archangel as their leader, that under your command they may defeat the demons, combat them everywhere, repress their boldness, and drive them back into the abyss.

Good and tender Mother, you are always our love and our hope. Divine Mother, send your holy angels to defend us and drive away the cruel enemy. Holy angels and archangels, defend and guard us.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, my love, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

## Closing Petition

Please, Mary, bring the angels to our aid.

*Through Mary’s intercession we trust that the heavenly hosts will protect us from the forces of evil.*
