*2015-02-07*

> Bill Young leads a prayer asking the Holy Spirit to pour out a new Pentecost upon the whole Church, from bishops to the most hardened sinners, and all peoples of the world.

## Introduction

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young, and welcome to the Prayer and Lunch podcast. Today we continue with a prayer of supplication to the Holy Spirit, invoking a new Pentecost for the whole Church.

## Who We Pray For

We ask the Holy Spirit to come upon the bishops, especially the Bishop of Rome, Pope Francis, the priests, religious sisters, laypeople, and all members of the Church. The prayer also includes those who do not believe and the hardest‑hearted sinners.

## The Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit, pour forth on us the source of your grace, and kindle a new Pentecost in your Church. Come down upon your bishops, your priests, your religious, upon your faithful, and upon those who do not believe, upon the most hardened sinners, and finally upon each one of us. Come down upon all the peoples of the world, upon all races, and upon every class and category of people. Stir us with your divine breath, purify us of all our sins, and free us from all deceit and evil. Inflame us with your fire, that we may be burned and consumed in your love. Teach us to understand that God is everything; all our happiness, joy, presence, future, and eternity are in his hands. Come, Holy Spirit, and transform us, save us, reconcile us, unite us, and consecrate us to yourself. Teach us to belong completely to Christ, to be yours alone, to belong totally to God. This we ask through your intercession and under the guidance and protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Immaculate Mother of Jesus, our Mother and Queen of Peace.

*May the Holy Spirit awaken a new Pentecost in each of us, drawing every heart—believer or not—into the love of Christ.*
