# Novena to Merciful Love – Day 2
*2015-01-24*

> Bill Young leads the second day of the Novena to Merciful Love, offering prayers, a meditation on the Lord’s Prayer, and petitions for conversion and grace as Lent approaches.

## Opening Prayer

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

My Jesus, my sorrow is great, considering the disgrace that I have offended You many times. Yet, with the heart of the Father, You have not only forgiven me but, in the words “Ask, and you shall receive,” invite me to ask for what I need. Full of confidence, I turn to Your merciful love, that You may grant me what I implore, especially the grace to change my behavior, to bear witness to my faith with my words, and to live according to Your precepts, kindling the fire of Your love.

## Meditation on the Lord’s Prayer

“Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
We ask that the will of God be done in all creatures, that it may be accomplished with fortitude and purity. May we fulfill God’s will in every manner, trusting that He works all things for our good.

## Petition for Mercy

My Jesus, I turn to You in this time of tribulation. If You wish to show clemency toward this poor creature, may Your goodness, triumph, love, and mercy forgive my faults. Even if I am unworthy, graciously hear and grant my desires if they serve Your glory and the good of my soul. I place myself into Your hands, trusting You to do with me as You please.

## Prayer for Living Faith

My Jesus, give me a living faith. Grant that I may observe Your divine commandments faithfully, with a heart full of love and charity, walking the path of Your precepts. May I taste the sweetness of Your Spirit, hunger for Your holy will, and offer humble service that is always acceptable and pleasing to You. May the wisdom of the Father bless me, and may the loving presence of the Holy Spirit guard me forever.

## Traditional Prayers

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver{unclear} us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

*May the merciful love of Christ transform our hearts as we journey through Lent.*
