# Footsteps – The Father’s Loving Care

> Bill Young reflects on the classic “footprints in the sand” story, reminding us that the Lord carries us in our darkest moments, and then leads a prayer of abandonment to the Father.

## The Footsteps Reflection

One night a man dreamed that he was walking along the beach with the Lord. As scenes from his life flashed before him, he saw two sets of footprints in the sand—one his own and one belonging to the Lord. When the final scene appeared, he looked back and noticed that during the lowest and saddest times there was only one set of footprints. Distressed, he asked the Lord why He seemed to leave him when he needed Him most. The Lord replied, “My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. In your trials and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it is because I am carrying you.”

## Prayer of Abandonment to the Father

My Father, I abandon myself to You. Do with me whatever You desire. For all that You do, I thank You. I am ready for everything and accept all that comes. May Your will be done in me. I place my soul in Your hands, offering it to You with the love of my heart, because I love You, Father. I give myself completely to You, trusting infinitely in Your paternal care. Amen.

*In our darkest moments, the Father is not absent; He is carrying us.*
