# Chaplet to Our Lady of Fatima - Day One
*2009-05-02*

> Bill Young begins a nine-day chaplet dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima, focusing on the importance of prayer and solitude.

## Opening Prayer

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. God, come to my aid; O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

## The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven. He is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Reflection on Our Lady of Fatima

Today is the first day. O Virgin Mary, who designed to appear on the lonely mountains of Cova da Iria to three shepherds, teaching us that we must sometimes withdraw to be alone with God in prayer for the good of our souls, obtain for us a love of prayer and meditation so that we may be able to listen to the voice of the Lord and fulfill His most holy will with faithfulness.

## Closing Prayer

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, pray for us. Amen.

*We must sometimes withdraw to be alone with God in prayer for the good of our souls.*
