# Day Seven of the Novena to Three American Saints: St. Frances{c} Cabrini (1850‑1917) – Prayer and Reflection
*2008-11-30*

> Bill Young/"the host" continues the seven‑day novena, focusing on St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, the Mother of Immigrants, and offers the prayers of the novena, the Our Father, and the Hail Mary.

## Introducing St. Frances Xavier Cabrini

St. Frances Xavier Cabrini was born in a tiny village in Lombardy in 1850, so frail at birth that she was taken immediately to the church for baptism. From her youth she dreamed of becoming a missionary, yet she was rejected three times when she applied to enter a convent. Undeterred, she eventually founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, establishing more than seventy orphanages, schools, and hospitals across eight countries in Europe, North and South America, and Central America.

## Novena Prayer to St. Frances Cabrini (Day Seven)

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

St. Frances Cabrini, in every corner of the hemisphere you sought out those whom everyone had forgotten—Mother of immigrants, friend of orphans, protector of the poor—intercede for us who strive to follow your example. May we, like you, love the lives of all who are rejected or forgotten, work for justice and the protection of all life, and seek out those who have been lost. Amen.

## The Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

## The Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

## Doxology

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

*St. Frances Cabrini reminds us that true discipleship means reaching out to the forgotten and marginalized, trusting that God’s love works through our compassion.*
