*2008-11-09*

> Bill Young leads a lunchtime prayer invoking the Holy Spirit to renew creation, the Church, and all humanity, followed by a brief reflection on its meaning.

## Opening

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young, and welcome to the 197th episode of Catholic Podcast Ministries, Prayer and Lunch.

## The Prayer: Come, Spirit of Life

In the name of the Father, and of His Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come, Spirit of Life, and renew the work of creation, that we may give birth to a more humane and righteous society. Come, Spirit of Knowledge, and render your Church wholly obedient to the words of the Gospel. Come, Spirit of Grace, and transform the Church with your holiness so that she may become a true family of the children of God. Come, Spirit of Counsel, and guide your Church along the way of history. Come, Spirit of Mercy, free your Church with merciful love from the slavery of evil. Come, Spirit of Praise, and impart to your Church wisdom about all matters concerning God. Come, Spirit of Fortitude, and give your Church the courage to announce the Gospel of salvation to all people. Come, Spirit of Service, build your Church upon foundations of unity and peace, that she may dwell in harmony with the joys and sufferings of all humanity. Come, Spirit of Resurrection, as you raised Jesus from death, bring all people to eternal life and glory.

## Reflection

Bill invites listeners to open their hearts to the Holy Spirit’s gifts, reminding us that each attribute—knowledge, grace, mercy, fortitude, and so on—calls us to a deeper conversion and a more authentic witness to Christ in the world.

*May the Holy Spirit renew us, so we become a true family of God’s children, living in unity, mercy, and hope.*
