*2008-10-30*

> Bill Young leads a heartfelt prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, expressing love and devotion as both daughter and son, and asking for her maternal protection.

## Opening

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young, and welcome to the 186th episode of Catholic Podcast Ministries, Prayer and Lunch. Today’s prayer is called “I Am Your Mother,” dedicated to our Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary.

## Addressing Mary

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.

O tender, loving Mother, virgin most prudent, Mother of our Redeemer, I greet you today with the greatest love a daughter’s and son’s heart can offer. I am your daughter and your son, helpless yet yearning to draw near to the passion of your Divine Son. With Him I greet you as the purest of creatures, for you were fashioned according to the desire and perfection of God, free from original sin and corruption. You have always been faithful to the promptings of grace, and your soul has been enriched with merits that raise you above all creatures, chosen to be the Mother of Jesus Christ.

## Praise of the Virgin

You guided Him in the sanctity of utmost purity; He began His human life in you and received nourishment from you. Oh incomparable Virgin, immaculate Mother, light of the Holy Trinity, admired by angels and saints, you are the delight of heaven, the morning star, the rose that blossoms in spring, the whitest lilies, the graceful iris, the scented violets of the garden prepared for the King of Heaven.

You are my Mother, O Virgin most prudent, precious ark in which all virtues are enclosed. You are my refuge, the shelter of the faithful.

## Petition and Blessing

Mother of the Redeemer, Mother of poor sinners, have mercy on us. Enclose us with your maternal protection. I greet you in the name of all men and women, of all the saints, and of all the angels. May I love you with the zeal of the seraphim, even though this world can never satisfy my desire for you. I pray through the Father, your Son, our Redeemer and Savior, and through the Holy Spirit, that you may receive constant, pure praise from your child.

Oh incomparable Virgin, bless me, your daughter and son, and bless all men and women. Protect them and intercede for them before the Almighty, who can refuse nothing to you.

## Conclusion

Farewell, tender, most beloved Mother. I greet you night and day, now and forever. Amen, and God bless you all.

*Mary, our Mother, continually draws us into the love of her Son.*
