# A Prayer to Put Others First

> Bill Young shares a heartfelt prayer asking God to give our loved ones servant hearts, modeled on Christ’s humility and service.

## Introducing the Prayer

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young, and welcome to episode 178 of Catholic Podcast Ministries, Prayer and Lunch. I’d like to share a prayer I found online called “To Put Others First.” It’s a beautiful intercession for family, friends, coworkers—anyone you feel needs a servant’s heart.

## The Prayer Begins

Father, I’m praying that—now you may mention the names of those you’re praying for—our friends and family will have a servant’s heart. May they consider others better than themselves, putting others’ needs above their own (Philippians 2:3‑4).

## Imitating Christ’s Humility

May they imitate Christ, who became a servant, humbling Himself to become like us, living a life of obedience even to death. Jesus came not to be served, but to serve and to give His life.

## Living Out Service

May they serve one another in love, wholeheartedly, knowing they are serving the Lord Jesus, not merely men. May they use the spiritual gifts they have received to serve others with the strength You provide, so that in all things You may be praised.

## A Call to Compassion

Help them to be eager to serve, treating others as they would want to be treated. May they constantly ask, “How would I want to be treated in this situation?” and respond accordingly.

## Closing

In the name of Jesus. Amen. God bless you all.

*May we all strive to put others first, following Christ’s example of humble service.*
