# Prayer to the Mother of Divine Love by Pope John Paul II
*2008-08-20*

> Bill Young pre‑records a beautiful prayer written by Pope John Paul II, invoking Mary as the Mother of divine love, and offers a brief reflection on its meaning.

## Introducing the Prayer

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young, and welcome to the 142nd episode of Prayer and Lunch. Because a storm is coming, we’re pre‑recording a set of prayers to have on hand for the week. The prayer I’m sharing today was composed by the Blessed Pope John Paul II and is titled “Prayer to the Mother of Divine Love.”

## The Prayer

In the name of the Father, and of His Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Hail, O Mother, Queen of the World, you are the Mother of divine love. You are the Mother of Jesus, fountain of every grace, perfume of every virtue, mirror of every purity. You are the joy in our weeping, victory in battle, hope in death. Sweet is the taste of your name on our lips, gentle is the harmony it brings to our ears, and it lifts our hearts. You are the happiness of those who suffer, the crown of the martyrs, the beauty of virgins. Lead us, we beseech you, after our exile, to the possession of your Son, Jesus. Amen.

## A Brief Reflection

In this prayer we ask Mary to be our guide and source of consolation. She is presented as the well‑spring of grace and the one who transforms our sorrows into joy. By invoking her, we are reminded that, even in the midst of storms—whether literal or spiritual—we can find hope and victory through her intercession.

## Closing Blessing

May God bless you all, and may you experience the peace that comes from turning to Mary, Mother of divine love.

*May we turn to Mary, Mother of divine love, for comfort, hope, and victory in every trial.*
