# Day 2 Novena to Saints Joachim and Anne
*2008-07-19*

> Bill Young leads the second day of the novena to Saints Joachim and Anne, the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with prayers, the Apostles’ Creed, and a heartfelt petition to St. Anne.

## Opening Prayer

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Precious Blood of Jesus, infinite price paid for the redemption of the world, cleansing water for our souls and defense for humanity, we adore you. May we ever give thanks for the love poured out in every drop of your blood. May we be ever grateful for the salvation you have won for us. Amen.

## The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell, rose again on the third day, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Prayer to St. Anne

Blessed St. Anne, you who were chosen to be the mother of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, we honor your holy vocation. Help us unite ourselves to your protection and devote our lives to Jesus and Mary. Grant that we may live as you did—awaiting the Lord with humility, openness, and gratitude—so that, by loving Him and our brothers and sisters, we may one day praise God forever.

Glorious St. Anne, Mother of Mary, intercede for us. Through your fervent prayers for fertility, obtain for us the spirit of prayer that nurtures holy virtues in our hearts. May our prayers be accompanied by the spirit of sacrifice, that we may receive heavenly graces.

St. Anne, model of charity, teach us to extend the same mercy you showed. Grant us steadfast trust so that we may receive God’s favors. May we always be grateful for the graces we have received and worthy of further blessings.

Through your example of pure love for your daughter Mary, inspire us to love her as our mother, that we may merit her protection. May we offer any sacrifice God asks of us with holy courage, obeying His will and receiving His blessings.

St. Anne, pray for us. Amen.

## Closing Blessing

May the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit be with you always. Amen.

*St. Anne’s example of humble, prayerful devotion invites us to trust fully in God’s love and to offer our lives as a sacrifice for His will.*
