# Novena to Our Lady of Caravaggio
*2008-05-17*

> Bill Young leads a novena to the Blessed Virgin Mary of Caravaggio, including the Apostles’ Creed and several heartfelt prayers for grace and conversion.

## Introduction

Welcome to the 80th episode of Catholic Podcast Ministries – Prayer and Lunch. Today we pray a novena to the Blessed Virgin Mary of Caravaggio, an Italian painter of the 19th century whose images of the Mother of God have inspired many. This novena is to be prayed from May 17 through May 25.

## The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Prayer to Our Lady of Caravaggio

O most holy Virgin of Caravaggio, inexhaustible source of graces, honored from ancient times, we pray to you that the expectations of all who approach you may not be disappointed and that no one's pleas be in vain. Our Lady of Caravaggio, pray for us.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, my loving Mother, pray for sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
All‑holy Virgin of Caravaggio, by your sanctity and maternal love, grant that the blind may see the light of faith, that wavering souls may walk swiftly in the path of divine commandments, that deaf ears may hear God’s teaching, and that those who have died because of sin may return to true life, find enlightenment, and know peace of heart. Our Lady of Caravaggio, pray for us. Amen.

## Petition for Grace and Conversion

O Mary, our heavenly patron, grant that all who implore your assistance may grow stronger in faith, more steadfast in hope, and be honored with love, so that they no longer seek the fleeting pleasures of this world and never stray from the path of goodness. O loving, sweet Virgin Mary, our Lady of Caravaggio, pray for us. Amen.

## Closing Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, who honored your Mother and sanctified this place, look upon and listen to all who pray here. Entrust us to your care, O living and reigning One, forever and ever. Amen.
We place our petitions before you, O Holy Mother of God; despise not our needs, but deliver us from all dangers. May we ever be under the protection of the ever‑glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

*May the intercession of Our Lady of Caravaggio draw us ever closer to Christ.*
