# Prayer of consecration to the divine will

> Bill Young reflects on the Pope's visit to the United States and offers a profound prayer of consecration to the Divine Will.

## Reflections on the Papal Visit

Before we move into today's prayer, I want to reflect on this past week. The Pope was in Washington, D.C., where he celebrated Mass for the people. He also visited New York City and the World Trade Center sites, praying for all the victims of 9/11 and their families. Later, he celebrated Mass at Yankee Stadium with over 58,000 participants—which must have been a beautiful event—and spent time in Yonkers, New York, with the youth of our country.

## Praying for Vocations

In light of these events, we want to pray for the Divine Will to guide our country. We especially pray for anyone who may be considering a vocation in the priesthood, the diaconate, or as sisters.

## A Prayer of Consecration

Oh divine and adorable Will, here I am before the immense city of the Spirit of the Divine. I seek your light so that your internal goodness may open its doors to me. Let me enter into it, so that I may find my life eternally upon you, O Divine Will. Therefore, O adorable Will, I, the smallest of creatures and the little host of the children of your supreme fiat, come before you and bow down before your light. Prostrate in my nothingness, I implore and beseech your unending light to surround me and leave in the shade all that does not belong to you, so that I may only look, understand, and live in you, O Divine Will.

## Living in the Supreme Fiat

Your Divine Will shall be my life, the center of my mind, that which steals my heart and all of my being. In this heart of mine, human desire shall live no more, except in conformity to your Will. Thus, I seek to form a new Garden of Eden where peace, happiness, and love shall reign. By living according to the Divine Will, I shall always be content. It shall be my soul's strength and a source of holiness which sanctifies and draws everything to God. Here, prostrate, I invoke the help of the Most Holy Trinity that it may grant me to live in the closure of the Divine Will, so that the original order of creation may be re-established in me.

## Intercessions of the Saints

Heavenly Mother, sovereign Queen of the Divine Fiat, take my hand and keep me always in the light of the Divine Will. You will be my guide; you shall look at your daughters and sons and teach them to live and keep us within the closure of the Divine Will. I entrust all my being to your heart. Instruct me at the school of the Divine Will, and I will listen to you attentively. Cover me in your blue mantle, so that the infernal serpent does not enter this sacred Garden of Eden to tempt me and cause me to fall into the labyrinth of earthly desires.

Heart of Jesus, my greatest good, give me your flames so that they may burn, consume, and nourish me to create within me the life of the supreme will. St. Joseph, be my patron. You shall keep the key to the garden of my heart. I place my will in your hands; guide my heart jealously and do not give it back to me, so that I may be certain of not fleeing from the will of God in any way. O guardian angel, be my protection and defend me, so that the flowers in my Garden of Eden may grow and blossom and embroider the world with the will of God. O heavenly court, come to my aid; I promise you to live always according to the Divine Will.

*By surrendering our human desires to the Divine Will, we can re-establish the original order of creation within our own hearts.*
