# Invocations to Mary for the Holy Spirit
*2008-02-23*

> Bill Young leads a Lenten prayer, invoking the Blessed Virgin Mary three times to ask that the Holy Spirit renew the faith of the earth.

## Opening Lenten Prayer

Dear Lord, as I walk my Lenten journey with you, send me your Spirit. Help me to give of myself, turn away from sin, and fast and pray so that I may know you better. Let my renewal inspire me to share your grace with the world.

## First Invocation of Mary

O most pure Virgin Mary, who, by the power of the Holy Spirit, became the chosen tabernacle of divinity, pray for us. May the divine promise come soon and renew the faith of the earth. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mother of God, pray for sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

## Second Invocation of Mary

O most pure Virgin Mary, who in the mystery of the Incarnation became the true Mother of God by the power of the Holy Spirit, pray for us. May the divine promise come soon and renew the faith of the earth. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mother of God, pray for sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

## Third Invocation of Mary

O most pure Virgin Mary, who, while praying with the apostles, was filled with the Holy Spirit, pray for us. May the divine promise come soon and renew the faith of the earth. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mother of God, pray for sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

## Closing Prayer

Sent forth your Spirit, and they shall be created; renew the faith of the earth. May your Spirit come, O Lord, and transform us internally with its gifts. Create in us a new heart, that in all things we may please you and accomplish your will. Through Christ our Lord, amen.

*May the Holy Spirit, through Mary’s intercession, renew our faith this Lenten season.*
