# God loves us

> Bill Young reflects on the plight of foster children and the need to place our trust in God, concluding with a heartfelt prayer of surrender.

## A heartbreaking story

My wife recently shared a story about a bright, bubbly young woman who works in the school system. She is in foster care, and her foster parents are preparing paperwork that will leave her on her own when she turns eighteen. Later we learned that her biological parents had abused her; her father is now in prison and her mother lives far away. This situation moved me to dedicate today’s prayer to all foster children and any child who feels lost, asking God to forgive them and remind them of His love.

## The love of God in Scripture

I was listening to Sister Ann Shields on the "Food for the Journey" podcast (available at RenewMinistries.com). She discussed the recent readings from the First Letter of John, which emphasize how essential God’s love is for us. I highly recommend that episode; it gave me a deeper experience of the boundless love God has for every person.

## Why we must trust God, not man

The reality of this young woman’s story shows how disappointing humanity can be. When we place our hope in people, we are often let down. But when we put our trust in God’s love, we find a source that never fails.

## A prayer of total surrender

Father, I abandon myself to You. Do with me whatever You desire. For whatever You do, I thank You. I am ready for everything and accept all that comes, trusting that Your will be done in me and in all creation. I desire nothing else. Lord, I place my soul in Your hands, giving it to You with all the love in my heart, because I love You. Out of love, I surrender myself completely, trusting in You, my Father.

## Closing thoughts

May God bless each of you, and may we meet again tomorrow.

*When we trust in God alone, we find a love that never disappoints.*
